About

Letter from Dr. Ward Ulmer and Don DeVito, Co-Presidents, West Coast University

Welcome to West Coast University. Since 1909, WCU has existed to help individuals pursue their educational goals. Now, 13 years into our second century, WCU has expanded tremendously. Accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), a regional accreditation body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), WCU is a leader in healthcare higher education, offering graduate and undergraduate degrees from its six campus locations and online. Our programs – from nursing to occupational therapy to pharmacy- provide students with not only a quality healthcare education, but also with training in the critical thinking, teamwork and communication skills in demand by employers.

With a student-centric approach in mind, we aim to provide our students with innovative programs, advanced facilities, and real-world learning opportunities. We are also excited to support our students in making sure they realize their potential by providing the personal attention and close-knit culture that provides them with the skills, knowledge, and experience they need to build successful lives, become leaders in their fields and achieve their dreams.

WCU is a special, vibrant community of learners who share a passion for the health and wellness of others. It is also a place where faculty put teaching excellence and the success of every student as the top priorities. To achieve our goals, the university’s Office of the Presidents is committed to recruiting distinguished faculty who are experts in their fields and value teaching the next generation of healthcare professionals.

We are committed not only to the education of students but to healthier outcomes for the communities we serve—at home and around the globe. We’ve been a part of the fabric of our community since our founding and celebrate a shared mission of service to those in need. It is at the core of our mission to create opportunities in the communities we serve through purposeful giving, impactful volunteerism, and partnership with innovative initiatives.

It is an honor and a privilege for us to guide our students through their healthcare education journey, helping them make their way in the world and, in turn, helping to make the world a better place. We know that a degree in healthcare is transformational for not only our students but also for the patients and communities they will serve. We are excited about our future as an institution and your future as a productive member of the healthcare workforce.
